Modeling Christ

1 Samuel 2:12-14 · 49 min

It's not enough to teach our children the right way; it's essential to model God's truth with our own life.

During this sermon, we examine the biblical story of the priest Eli and his sons in 1 Samuel 2.

Through this passage, the Word warns us about the dangers of spiritual lukewarmness, consenting to sin in the home, and the tragic temptation to honor our children's approval above the fear of God

Key passages:

1 Samuel 2:12-14, 29 — The contrast between paternal responsibility and commitment to God's holiness.

Deuteronomy 6:1-3 — The need to put the Word into action before demanding it from our family.

📌 Main points of this message:

Teaching without a model produces rebellion: Our children learn more from our actions and integrity than from our words.

The father's shadow: A father's influence over his home is proportional to the extent to which Christ's image has been formed in his own character.

Prioritizing honor to God: Warning against the danger of tolerating disobedience and placing filial affection above divine holiness.

Restoration in Christ: Breaking past patterns and boldly assuming the call to be guided by the Holy Spirit.
